More Problems at Blue Coat?

Last Thursday, Blue Coat Systems announced that it would hold a conference call, scheduled for after the close of trading tomorrow, to update its revenue guidance.

Since that announcement, the company’s stock hasn’t moved up or down dramatically, but there’s good reason to think Blue Coat, which has struggled to remake itself into a vendor specializing in the secure delivery of applications and content (putting it up against some large and well-entrenched competitors, in the process), will not be raising guidance when it meets with analysts Monday afternoon.

If the company lowers guidance, as is widely expected, how much will it downscale expectations and how will market watchers, who have been disappointed by Blue Coat previously, react?

Answers are forthcoming, but we’ll have to wait until Monday evening and Tuesday morning to get them.
